I have Windows 7 Home as OS. I downloaded Autocad 2018 for class and the only issue is my graphics driver needs updated. BUT, when I try to update I’m told my OS doesn’t support the update. Is there anything I can do short of investing in a new laptop?

However, I do not think this is going to help you.  THese were last updated FIVE years ago.  And, you are using a 2018 version of Autocad which is graphics intensive.
 
Best for you to get a new(er) hardware platform and run a graphics processor that can properly handle autocad.
