    [1] It's advisable to NOT uninstall old versoins immediately.
You can have multiple IDE's and compilers all installed at the same time. The project file rememberds WHICH version was used for each project, so you are not forced to used the latest compler for every project.

    I doubt it. I think they assumed it would just use whatever compiler was installed, not realising that it DOES remember which compiler it was using previously.
